C.C. CATCH FEAT. LEELA - silence DANNY RECORDS DAS OHR 42 6007748 001 VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: 29.11.2004

RICHARD MARX - ready to fly MANHATTAN / EMI 0724387041523 VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: 03.01.2005

    Right here flying

    TRACKLISTE:

    01. Ready To Fly (Radio Edit) 4.06
    02. Ready To Fly (Hot AC Vertical Mix) 4.11
    03. Ready To Fly (Acoustic Version) 4.25
    04. When You're Gone 4.24

ASIA - long way from home INSIDE OUT / SPV 0693723407234 VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: 10.01.2005

    01. Long Way From Home (Radio Edit)
    02. What About Love (Radio Edit)

THUNDER - the magnificent seventh FRONTIER RECORDS / UNIVERSAL FRCD228 VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: 21.02.2005

Formed in 1989, from the ashes of the pop rock combo Terraplane, Thunder were discovered by Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor, who produced not only their deal securing demos, but their first and second LPs. Indeed Taylor often said that Thunder was the band he should have been in. The band quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting live acts in the world, effortlessly making the transition from clubs to theatres to stadiums. With their fusion of music influenced by all the great 70s Classic British Rock bands and upbeat cockney rapport, audiences warmed to them everywhere they went. 1990 saw the release of their critically acclaimed debut album "Backstreet Symphony" on EMI (in UK, Capitol & then Geffen in the US). This year also saw a cracking European tour with Heart as well as their now famous performance in the opening slot at the Donington Monsters Of Rock Festival (crowd 80,000). No one who witnessed it will ever forget it. "Backstreet Symphony" sold 250,000 copies in the US, due to "Dirty Love" achieving 6 weeks at number 1 on Dial MTV. A combination of the onset of grunge and record label inertia meant this was as far as it went. By 1992 Thunder were very popular indeed: their second LP ("Laughing On Judgement Day") entering the UK charts at n. 2 (pipped at the post by Kylie's "Greatest Hits"). Touring included South America with Iron Maiden and Europe with Extreme. In 1995 they opened for Bon Jovi on their European stadium tour and once again, predictably, stole the show. During the first 10 years they were together, Thunder notched up an incredible 18 top 40 singles in the UK. Not bad for a band that were hardly ever played on British radio! This was mostly down to the stoic loyalty of the Thunder fans who never failed to show up for tours. Proof positive (as if any were needed) of the consistently high quality of the band's live show. Having become disillusioned and frustrated, they split up for 2 years, only to be lured back for the special guest spot at 2002's UK Monsters Of Rock Tour, where the band's passion was well and truly re-ignited. The tour was a resounding success for them, so much so that a new LP has been recorded and set for release in March 2003. "Shooting At The Sun" saw the band travel back to their earliest musical influences, with powerful riffs, soaring melodies and sheer classic rock class stamped all over it. A successful European tour with Deep Purple followed which saw the band impress the numerous fans with riveting performances. Anticipated by the release of the successful single "I Love You More Than Rock'n'Roll" which entered the UK charts at No. 27, becoming the bands 17th top 40 hit, Thunder are now back with their seventh studio album aptly entitled "The Magnificent Seventh". This time the band worked hard to choose the best possible set of songs and the result is a real classic Thunder album filled with melodic songs, anthemic rockers and soulful ballads. British rock-icon Russ Ballard (Rainbow, Magnum, Argent) is also making an appearance co-writing the ending tune "One Fatal Kiss" with main songwriter and guitar player Luke Morley. Produced by Luke Morley, recording of "The Magnificent Seventh" took place at various times during the summer (in between festival appearances), at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire UK for drums and bass, while the rest was done at Thunder's own Chez Bez Studio in London.

    01. I Love You More Than Rock 'n' Roll
    02. The Gods Of Love
    03. Monkey See, Monkey Do
    04. I'm Dreaming Again
    05. Amy's On The Run
    06. The Pride
    07. Fade Into The Sun
    08. Together Or Apart
    09. You Can't Keep A Good Man Down
    10. One Foot In The Grave
    11. One Fatal Kiss

ALBUM: BILLY IDOL - devil´s playground SANCTUARY RECORDS VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: 22.03.2005

SINGLE: BILLY IDOL - scream SANCTUARY RECORDS VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: 24.01.2005

BILLY IDOL TO RELEASE FIRST CD FEATURING NEW MUSIC
    IN MORE THAN 10 YEARS

    REBEL ROCKER OFFERS DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND ON MARCH 22;
“SCREAM” GOES TO RADIO JANUARY 3

“Enough!” said Billy Idol,”2005 is the time for an original punk rocker to show his stuff.”

After taking himself out of the music business “to regenerate, get free of myself and make an album for the right reasons,” Billy Idol has completed his first album featuring new songs in over 10 years, aptly titled
    DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND.
The CD, which may or may not be named after a location deep inside the Idol mind, is scheduled for release on March 22, 2005, and is the English rocker’s first for Sanctuary Records.

The single, “Scream,” is a down and dirty love romp featuring the sinister signature guitar of Steve Stevens and Idol’s rock and roll holla in the familiar vain of “Rebel Yell.”
It will go to radio on January 3, with an impact date set for January 24.
Widely credited as one of the critical artists responsible for the golden age of Music Television and an early disciple of the art of controversy on the small screen, Idol will attempt to reinvent the video art form by making one for “Scream,” which will be completed early next year.

DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND is a journey through the musical mind, influences and taste of Billy Idol. The trip begins with the visceral thrust of the album’s opener “Super Overdrive", followed by the punk anthem “World Coming Down,” which borrows from his own history in the Bromley Contingent—the crew that included Siouxie Sioux, Steve Severin, The Clash’s Mick Jones and others who followed the 5ex Pistols—as well as his own early group, Generation X.
In total, there are 13 tracks to be experienced on DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND.

In the last few years, Idol and his band, which once again includes longtime guitarist Steve Stevens, as well as new drummer Brian Tichy, bassist Stephen McGrath, and keyboardist Derek Sherinian, have been revving up the engine by playing a few select gigs across the country.
Billy was thinking about a new album but had not yet written the songs he wanted to record. After a particularly raucous concert at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York last year Idol was approached by Sanctuary Group Inc. USA CEO Merck Mercuriadis, who asked him if he was ready to record “a great Billy Idol album.”
The conversation that followed motivated the artist to do something that he had contemplated never doing again: Idol signed a major new record deal.

Already secure with 6 platinum and /or multiplatinum albums (BILLY IDOL, REBEL YELL, WHIPLASH SMILE,
VITAL IDOL, CHARMED LIFE, GREATEST HITS) , a #1 single (“Mony Mony”), 7 Top 20 Hits (“White Wedding,”
“Hot In the City,” "Rebel Yell,” “Eyes Without A Face,” “Flesh For Fantasy,” “To Be A Lover,” “Cradle of Love,”),
2 Grammy Nominations and the first dance remix album to go Top 10 (VITAL IDOL) , Billy and the band went into the studio last April with long time producer Keith Forsey, and DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND was the result.

Billy Idol will tour worldwide commencing March 2005.

    BILLY MACKENZIE: 3 neue veröffentlichungen:

    Billy MacKenzie
Background to Auchtermatic and Transmission Impossible

To begin with an understatement, Billy’s family and closest friends were far from happy with Beyond the Sun. It bore Billy’s name, but there was nothing of the real Billy Mackenzie in its grooves. Covered in the fingerprints of people who didn’t know him, who knew nothing at all about what made him tick, we felt that it failed him, and that, ultimately, to let it stand as a last grey word on his dazzlingly colourful legacy would be to do him an unforgivable injustice. The truth can at last be told; that the people whose opinions mattered, of whom there were never very many in the first place, were completely sidelined by the record company. Of course, the fans still loved it, grateful that someone at least saw fit to give air to Billy’s parting shots. But it’s reflective demeanour belied a lack of vision, and stood only to impair the true, uncontrolled greatness of the golden boy inside.

Eurocentric was a much more loving effort, one to be embraced for its attempts to obey the fizzy eccentricity of its creator. But it also lacked overall vision, chiefly because a lot of essential material had already been creamed off for Beyond the Sun.

We always knew the situation had to be and would be corrected. We had to give the music back to Billy, and represent it to the fans as close as we could to how he’d been envisioning it. For starters, we always knew he was thinking about the electronica and the ballads as entirely separate projects.

In the case of Auchtermatic, although the material had been recorded with a variety of collaborators, I had several tapes, some of which Billy had given me himself, which clearly indicated how he saw the material working as a singlular concept. The only real change was the inclusion of “Pain in any Language”, which deserved it’s place on the record as his final statement, as well as one of his greatest performances, and because we were sure that if he’d been around he’d have stood by that track. There was never any question about using anything other than Peter Ashworth’s last photo session on the cover. Peter had worked with Billy since the Associates days (he did the classic sleeve for Sulk). I remember being with Billy at his flat in Holland Road when he was looking at the contact sheet of this Ashworth session in August 1996. He was delighted with them, and full of praise for Peter. With that in mind, there couldn’t be any real debate about the sleeve for Auchtermatic.

Transmission Impossible was a harder proposition, because Billy didn’t leave many clues about the context or running order. I had to kind of invite him in for that one. When I was working on it I could almost hear him over my shoulder, saying give it the Van Morrison with a bit of Syd Barrett meets Julie London. When I related this to others who knew him, it was received with unanimous approval. It did indeed feel like he was having the final say.
