DEXYS MIDNIGHT RUNNERS - in concert ILC ENTERTAINMENT VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: 08.10.2007

Originally formed in Birmingham in 1978, Dexys Midnight Runners based their sound around their love of 1960's soul music. Fronted by enigmatic singer/songwriter Kevin Rowland, Dexys supported The Specials on a UK tour in 1979 when they were spotted by former Clash manager, Bernie Rhodes, and quickly signed their first record deal with EMI. A UK Number 1 followed in 1980 with 'Geno' taken from their debut album Searching For The Young Soul Rebels. Following both a change of line-up and record label in 1981, Dexys found a new direction by melding the soul revival elements of their sound with Irish folk, resulting in them becoming a household name in 1982 with the ever-popular Come On Eileen - a Number 1 hit both in the UK and the US.

    U2 - popmart / live from mexico city 2 DVD MERCURY 1733532 VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: 10.09.2007

Filmed at the Foro Sol Autodromo in Mexico City on 3rd December 1997, PopMart Live from Mexico City was directed by David Mallet and first released on video the following year; this is the first time it has been released on DVD.

Described as a sci-fi disco supermarket, the PopMart Tour opened in its 'spiritual home', Las Vegas on 25th April 1997. All trash and kitsch, PopMart introduced a giant mirrorball lemon, a 100ft cocktail stick - complete with olive, and the works of Lichenstein, Warhol and Haring, to a live rock audience: a production experience never quite seen before.

Originally filmed on analogue video, the film has been transferred to a digital format with re-graded and cleaned pictures. Great care has been taken to maintain the original look by simply enhancing it, with an added degree of sharpness and contrast unavailable when originally filmed. The audio has also been re-mastered and mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound.

    DVD 1:

    1. Pop Muzik
    2. Mofo

JOE SATRIANI - surfing with the alien CD & DVD SONY BMG 88697096682 VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: 06.08.2007

The LED ZEPPELIN IV of instrumental rock albums, 1987's SURFING WITH THE ALIEN cemented Joe Satriani's status as a top-tier virtuoso axe man. Although Satriani (a teacher to such famous students as Steve Vai and Metallica's Kirk Hammett) began getting recognition following his solo debut, NOT OF THIS EARTH, it was this subsequent record that truly sent the guitarist's career into the stratosphere. With the majority of the album performed by Satch himself (including bass, keyboard, and most drum parts), this is an outing that prominently displays his overall musical talent, while keeping the focus on his amazingly deft, blistering leads. The New York-born guitarist also impresses with his eclectic array of styles, ranging from the fierce hard rock of the title track to the delicate pop of "Always with Me, Always with You" to the bold blues of "Satch Boogie." For those curious about the revered shredder, this is a great introduction, and, for aspiring heavy-metal/hard-rock guitarists, SURFING WITH THE ALIEN is absolutely essential.

HALL & OATES - in concert ILC ENTERTAINMENT VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: 08.10.2007

Just as James Brown commanded the stage at Harlem's Apollo theatre 20 years previous, so Daryl Hall and John Oates took to the very same stage in 1983, producing a similarly captivating and soul-packed show. Performing a powerhouse of songs from their first ever 'best-of', the duo tore through 16 of their greatest numbers - including four from 1982's H20 album. From the flirtatious 'Italian Girls' and the moody 'Art Of A Heartbreak', to the jubilatory 'Maneater' and 'Private Eyes', what we witness on this DVD is essentially two men (aided and abetted by four of the tightest musicians in town) at their peak, which betrays a duo as skilled in close soul harmonies as they were (and are) at rocking.

    Tracklisting:

    1. Family Man
    2. Diddy Doo Wop
    3. Italian Girls
    4. Kiss On My List
    5. She's Gone
    6. Art Of Heartbreak
    7. One On One
    8. You've Lost That Lovin´Feeling
    9. I Can¿t Go For That
    10. Sara Smile
    11. Wait For Me
    12. Maneater
    13. Private Eyes
    14. Open All Night
    15. You Make My Dreams
    16. Room To Breathe
