GRACE JONES - live in concert PHANTOM VERÖFFENTLICHUNG: 30.03.2010

2010 archive release that contains rarely heard concert footage from the model, actress and vocalist. On looks alone, Grace Jones has become an import part of our pop culture. More so than any model of her era, she proved that models could be strong and sensual instead of wispy, helpless and frail. Musically, she transcends genres, incorporating Pop, Disco, Reggae, New Wave and other styles into the mix. These live performances were taped in 1981 while on tour promoting her album Nightclubbing. Her striking looks and ground-breaking music are perfect recipes for a feast for the eyes, ears, heart and soul.

The first 11 tracks appear to be from the 1982 VHS/Laserdisc, One Man Show, with the rest of the tracks probably from live appearances in 1985.

Barbra Streisand's jüngstes Studioalbum LOVE IS THE ANSWER, auf dem sie einige der bekanntesten Songs des Great American Songbooks interpretiert, hat die Künstlerin wieder auf den ihr zustehenden Zenith zurückkatapultiert: das Album steig sowohl in den USA als auch in England von Null auf Platz 1 der Albumcharts ein und verkaufte sich weltweit rund eine Million mal. 1977 wurde Arabesque von den Frankfurter Produzenten Wolfgang Mewes gegründet und die nächsten Jahre produziert. Zum Ende der Siebziger und Anfang der Achtziger Jahre war Arabesque eine der erfolgreichsten deutschen Bands der Disco Ära. Stilistisch steht Arabesque in einer Reihe mit Luv, A La Carte, Babe, Trix usw.

Unverwechselbar wurden die Songs von Arabesque vor allem durch die lebhafte, „catchy" abgemischte Leadstimme von Sandra Lauer . Den Höhepunkt ihres Erfolgs erreichte die Gruppe 1980/81 mit den Hitalben „ Marigot Bay " und „ In For A Penny ". Innerhalb ihres siebenjährigen Bestehens nahm die Band neun Alben auf und nahm zahlreiche TV-Auftritte war.

1984 zerbrach Arabesque und Sandra startete eine Solokarriere aus der weltweit bekannte Hits wie „ Maria Magdalena “, „ Everlasting Love “, oder „ Hiroshima “ hervorgingen.

Diese Live-CD ist ein Mitschnitt des am 5. Mai 1982 in der Tokyoer Kosei-Nenkin Hall gegebenen Fancy-Concert .
