Studenten der Berliner Musikhochschule "Hans Eisler" gründeten im November 1973 die Band Kreis. Beim erfolgreichsten Songschreiber-Duo Lennon/McCartney über die Schulter geschaut und inspiriert vom aufkommenden Philly-Sound entstanden recht schnell erste Rundfunk-Produktionen, die ihren Höhepunkt mit dem erfolgreichsten Hit der Band "Doch ich wollte es wissen" 1975 hatten.
Allerdings erst 1977+ 78 wurden die beiden einzigen AMIGA-LPs veröffentlicht, die neben dem o.g. der Band weitere Hits bescherten. Dies brachte ihnen sogar eine LP-Produktion bei Hansa-Musik/Westberlin 1980 ein und mit den daraus ausgekoppelten Single-Hits "Auf Engel schießt man nicht" und "Nenn mich einfach Robinson" auch im Westen einige Achtungserfolge. 1982 löste sich die Band auf, Arnold Fritzsch arbeitete solo weiter und wurde vor allem erfolgreich durch seine Kompositionen für andere Künstler (Olaf Berger, Bärbel Naumann, Steffen, Ines Paulke!, Wolfgang Lippert, Arnulf Wenning u.a.).
