Ja da habe ich auch gleich dran gedacht...

Die haben im Supreme-Clip den F1-Look der späten 60er bzw. frühen 70er wirklich perfekt eingefangen.

Z.B. gibt es eine Szene in der Robbie W. zusammen mit 2 echten Piloten auf dem Siegespodest steht - dafür haben die Macher lange Archivmaterial gesichtet bis sie eine Siegerehrung fanden wo tatsächlich ein Podestplatz frei blieb - da wurde Robbie dann reinkopiert!

gut besetzt. Sorry das ich den Brief nicht uebersetze - bin (mal wieder)
zu faul.

That would be great - the movies I've seen before were 'win race - fall

IMHO the most important thing would be to capture the fascination of a
racing. That's the speed, the screaming engines, beautyful girls (that's
no cliched crap).
Try to show the enormous pressure on todays F1 pilots. They have to be
computer specialists (for the telemetrie data), fit like a jet pilots
(to show the g forces as close up of the drivers face (up to 4g) would
be great), and they have to be good in press conferences and stuff, have
to deal with political things and million of dollar contracts and have
to be excellent drivers. All in one person.
I would like to see the differnt type of drivers. Years ago (1982)
we had the Nelson Piquet type. He had lot's of woman and had his
infamous fight with another driver (who was lapped) and took him out of
the race. He hit him at the head and kicked him with feet and so on -
today unbelievable.
There's the Ayrton Senna type. The only things he wants is to win. No
alcohol, no woman, sits with his engineers the whole night in the
motorhome to study the computer data.
The third is the close eyes pedal to the metal Nigel Mansell or Gerhard
Berger type of driver. Often with bad luck and major accidents
struggeling with his own destiny but with enormous speed.
The gentleman driver (like John Watson 1983) - very fast, very smart but
shy in press conferences lot's of bad luck. Everbody likes him. Perhaps
he isn't selfish enough to become World Champion in F1. That's my
favourite. But in todays F1 nearly not to find.
The baby face driver (like Jan Magnussen today or the young Michael
Schumacher).
No alcohol, no fast food - only muesli of his physiotherapist. Always
polite Mr. Nice guy - the sponsors love him. He's boring.
And the freak and backmarker like Ukyo Katayama. Always lots of spins on
the track - have to pay for his drive. But he is no bad driver - better
than you and me. His english is bad and lot's of people laugh at him. I
would like to see sort of each type in the movie. Maybe a mixture type
between them.

Try to show the one lap in the qualifying that counts. Everything has to
be perfect 'cause there only one qualifying session. The pulse is high
- can't afford mistakes this lap has to be perfect. Every little error
is one place back at the grid.
The whole team is waiting at the pits staring at the timing screens. I
want to see why grand prix drivers are so exausted after a race. The
heat - the g-forces- stress. Accidents have to be a part in the movie.
Todays F1 is save (compared to the 70ties were each year one driver were
killed a least). But it's still dangerous. I would like to see
spectacular InCar Shots. Show the fight with the press the BS they write
and how the drivers try to deal with it. How are the Fans like -
Ferraristi and stuff.
I would like too see Team Bosses and how they're dealing with the
drivers. Patrick Head of Willimas said this year about his driver HH
Frentzen - he'll win a few GP - but he's no drivers who will win 20 or
so. Whats's the reason for that? And how will this affect the
performance of a driver. I like to see the psychological factors. If
drivers feels not to have the support in the team - the team don't trust
for example it affects their ability to set up the car they will be
slower on the track. A good example is Heinz-Harald-Frentzen this year. Or Jan Magnussen in the Stewart Racing Team. He wasn't self confident this year
at all - the Season was very disapointing. Rumours that they want to
sack him . Team-Owner Jackie Stewart had a long conversation with him
and suddenly he was one second faster and on the same leve as his team
mate.
So there is a fight in the head of each drivers not only on the track.

Prior movies had this commentator at the track during the race
---"ooooohhhh XXX is in the lead - ooooh no a hhuuuuge shunt". Didn't
want to see that - didn't like it 'cause it gave this unrealistic
feeling.

I saw Grand Prix (good Indcar shots). The Le Mans Movie (with Steve
McQueen IMHO) was the best I remember. Days Of Thunder made this typical
Race Movie mistakes. Tried to make Ben Hur out of NASCAR. Never seen a
good F1 movie so far. Hope you get it right and there are a few useful
ideas in my reply.

[/quote]Nee, daß ist alles echt, mein Kollege (mit auf dem Bild) und ich haben Heiko Wasser 2002 auf dem Nüburgring getroffen, der ist total nett, bei dem Thema
Fachkompetenz kann man ja streiten:D.
Außer RTL bleibt mir ja auch nichts anderes übrig, da zieht aber wenigtens Niki Lauda den Karren aus dem Dreck.

Zum Thema Rennfilme, ein richtig guter Film über Ayrton Senna
ist wohl das einzige was Sinn macht.

Drivers who had trouble with english

Though the need for 33 cars is certainly one of the reasons, Jeff Simons was recently put into Tora Takagi's back up car for the Indy 500. The reason that was given was that Takagi and his engineer spoke very little English and basically they needed to know what the car was doing.

Now Takagi has been in British teams in F1 and from 2000 on has been in American Champ Car or IRL machines. I think it is safe to say he doesn't have a huge burning desire to learn the language.

Any other drivers come to mind as difficult to learn much English for a long while? If so, could that they restricted their progress?

Wasn't there a story that throughout 1981 Ayrton Senna was 'encouraged' to believe English for 'hello' was 'fuck off'?

I do remember a live TV interview from the pits with Schumacher Minor when he'd just graduated to F1 - IIRC he described his car (or possibly his own performance in qualifying) as "Bollocks": you could see a couple of Jordan mechanics sniggering in the background!

Only after careful explanation he finally understood that there was a difference between what the Brits call a hooter (Everyone has one) and the Americans. (Only half of all people eventually possess two)....

Dick Simon had found yet another unknown Japanese for one of his cars, I believe it was Hideshi Matsuda. The guy hardly spoke English and on race day he had a crash.
On the victory banquet he told, carefully speaking:

Bin übrigens dieses Wochenende "fremdgegangen", DTM in Oschersleben.
Eintritt inklusive Fahrerlager 55€, für drei Tage,Zeltplatz 4€ pro Tag...Traumpreise.

Motorsport zum anfassen, viele Autogramme, Smalltalk mit Fahrern und Mechanikern, Cora Schumacher ohne Dunkelbebrillte Kleiderschränke mit Finstermiene, die Kotletten von HHF mal live gesehen, Nobbie Haug bei einer Interviewstunde mit Fans, Reifen von DTM-Rennern als Souvenir, offene Motorhauben, Securityleute die einem die Tür vom Safety-Car öffnen um Fotos vom Innenraum zu schiessen, und einem dann noch die ganze Modellpalette der Safety-Cars zu erklären.

Ist aufgrund der Massenhysterie in der Formel 1 undenkbar.

DTM ich komme wieder.

Ich war bei der DTM 1992-94 in Berlin an der Highspeedavus! Schön! Kann ich nur bestätigen... Heftig war der Feuerunfall von John Winter im Calibra direkt vor mir!

Na dann wollen wir mal schaun ob Schumi es heute packt...

BTW: Irgendwie sah die Eau Rouge doch schon mal spektakulärer aus, oder?
