1980 erschien mit British Steel das sechste Studio Album von Judas Priest und gilt bis heute als Referenzwerk des Heavy Metal. Nach über 30 Jahren im Dienste der Simple Minds, einer der erfolgreichsten Rock- und Popbands Großbritanniens, veröffentlicht Sänger und Frontmann Jim Kerr sein erstes Soloalbum „Lostboy! AKA Jim Kerr“
Um den seit mehr als drei Jahrzehnten währenden Erfolg der Simple Minds in Worte zu fassen, genügen einige Zahlen: Die Gruppe aus Glasgow blickt auf mehr als 30 Millionen verkaufte Tonträger und neun Alben, die es in England bis in die Top 10 schafften, fünf davon bis auf die Spitzenposition. Auch in Deutschland erreichten fünf ihrer Alben die Top 10. Die Simple Minds zählen neben U2 und Depeche Mode zu den erfolgreichsten aktiven Bands des Vereinigten Königreichs.
Jetzt veröffentlicht Jim Kerr zum ersten Mal in seiner über 30-jährigen Karriere ein Soloalbum unter dem Pseudonym Lostboy! AKA Jim Kerr. Kerr erklärt den Namen sowie die Idee hinter seiner Soloarbeit wie folgt: „Irgendwie entwickelte ich in den letzten Monaten eine tiefe Verbindung zu dem jungen Mann, der ich zwischen 17 und 23 war – seine Auffassungen, sein Antrieb und seine Begeisterung. Es war enorm befreiend, sich mit der Energie und Offenheit des jungen Jim auseinanderzusetzen, den ich glaubte verloren zu haben. Ich stellte mir vor, welche Songs er heute wohl schreiben würde. Lostboy! AKA Jim Kerr ist das Ergebnis dieser Neugierde.“ So schloss sich Jim Kerr mit befreundeten Musikern in seinem Studio in Glasgow ein, um das gleichnamige Solo-Debüt einzuspielen. Das Ergebnis dieser Zusammenarbeit trägt eindeutig die typischen Markenzeichen der Simple Minds, erweist sich stilistisch aber deutlich offener und verspielter. Auf seine Hauptband wird Jim Kerrs Solo-Ausflug keine Auswirkungen haben: „Ich bin überzeugt, dass sich beide musikalischen Säulen eher ergänzen und gegenseitig befruchten, als dass sie sich behindern.“

Das Album erscheint in vier Ausführungen. Diese original signierte Collector’s Edition ist streng limitiert und enthält neben dem Album eine 7“ Vinyl mit zwei bisher unveröffentlichtenTracks. Neben dieser Standard CD im Jewelcase gibt es auch eine limitierte Deluxe Edtion, die zusätzliche 3 Bonus Tracks erhält und im edlen Digipak erscheint.!
